- EF-2 Tornado, Fires and more
Hello Community, It has been a very busy and stressful month for our department and community. Are hearts and prayers go out to those affected by the recent storms as we were in the thick of it checking on neighbors and responding to numerous calls. This years run numbers are very high compared to recent years. With our dedication to serve and protect we are always looking for more volunteers. However we currently have an amazing team who work tirelessly to ensure we operate smoothly. Here are some pictures of some recent runs in May.
- HTVFC Station Dedication
Saturday, July 27th we are hosting an open house / Station dedication from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The dedication ceremony will begin at 10;30 am with the open house portion continuing until 2:00 pm. Please stop by to see the cool things we have done at HTVFC. Drinks and food will be available. Tilly from CFD will be onsite giving rides along with station tours.
- Eclipse 2024
We had the privilege to witness the 2024 solar eclipse, here is a few pictures from the event. Everyone enjoyed the day stationed on stand by to serve any extra duties needed throughout the county.
- Good Friday fire watch
On 3/29/24 our department was dispatched and responded to 4 grass/woods fires. Pictured below was our response alongside Southwest Fire Dept. to Grandview. Crews responded quickly and minimized damage to the property. We also responded to 3 other fires across the county. We were able to send multiple personnel to each call helping tackle the sometimes challenging terrain .
- Volunteers Needed
We are looking to add to our manpower for 2024. We currently have a paid day staff who work M-F (7:00 AM-5:00 PM). Volunteers cover in between the gaps, occasionally working alongside the day crews. This is a very rewarding job. You get to learn new life skills. Make new friends and could potentially even make this a career path if your interested. HTVFC has a brand new facility which has top of the line equipment. Please stop by and visit if interested to pick up a application or meet the crews. Or you can show interest on our website by applying for your desired role.
- 2023 Festival of lights
Volunteers for HTVFC decorated and walked in the Festival of Lights parade last winter. It was cool to see how the decorated the truck and watch them walk through downtown Columbus. Well done representing HTVFC!
- New Firefighter
Harrison Township fire department would like to welcome a new member to the team. Nic Zickler is 21-years-old and from Greenwood, Indiana. Nic is a graduate of New Palestine High School. He has obtained his Firefighter 1&2, Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations, and his EMT certifications. He works part-time on Whiteland Fire Department. In his off time, Nic enjoys working out, hiking, and watching movies. We look forward to working with Nic.
- Mutual Aid provided for a large field fire
Harrison Township tanker 25 and brush truck 25 responded to assist German Township Volunteer Fire Department on a large field fire. Several departments worked to extinguish the fire. It was estimated that approximately 120 acres burned.

- Finalizing plans to start construction on a new fire station
Currently, Harrison Township Fire Department is in the process of breaking ground on a new fire station. This building will allow the department to grow and expand to better serve the community. It will provide more space for equipment and apparatus. This will also allow for future growth and expansion. Stay tuned for future updates.
